If you choose to send surveys via Email or SMS with Skeepers, you can easily manage your sending lists within the platform. Contacts can be imported manually or automatically into Skeepers in order to include them in specific sending lists according to your needs.
Glossary
A contact is a person identified by a phone number or an email address, allowing the sending of surveys via email or SMS from the platform. Additional information can be associated with the contact through "Contact Field" attributes, which are linked to specific properties of the contact. Contacts can then be organized within sending lists to target the audience when deploying a survey.
A sending list groups contacts imported into the platform and selected for targeting an email or SMS deployment via Skeepers. The list can be enriched manually, by importing a CSV file, automatically from an FTP repository or via API. The same contact can be included in multiple sending lists.
A contact field is a type of attribute required to enrich a contact profile by associating information with it. By default, the available contact fields on the platform include: first name, last name, gender, title, country, email address, phone number, and language. Other fields can be added through contact properties.
A property is peripheral data that can be attached to users, recipients, campaigns, deployments, segments or contacts. It acts as metadata to globally group several elements. Properties are commonly named with business-related terms.
An opt-in is a status that reflects the explicit consent of a contact to receive communications, particularly the sending of surveys by email or SMS via the platform. This consent is mandatory to comply with data protection regulations. Each contact imported into the platform is considered by default as opt-in.
An opt-out is a status indicating that the contact has explicitly refused or withdrawn their consent to receive communications. In this case, the contact will not be included in any survey deployments by email or SMS from the platform, even if they are part of the sending list.

Import Contacts into a Sending List
To import contacts into your sending list, you can proceed with:
- A manual import of contacts via a file upload directly from the contacts list. This solution is generally used for ad-hoc studies.
- An automated import via FTP;
- An automated import via API.
Manually Import Contacts via CSV File
- Once your list has been created, click on
Edit.
- Go to the Contacts tab then click on the dropdown arrow of the
button.
- Download the CSV template.
-
Edit the template with your data while strictly respecting the column names. If you do not have certain information or do not wish to collect it, leave the related column empty.
The only columns that must be filled in (apart from the header) are the "Language" column, the "Phone" column in the case of an SMS deployment, and the "Email" column in the case of an Email deployment.
Here is an example of a completed contact list:
- Once your file is ready, select it and return to the Import from CSV file button. A message will indicate any errors.
- Click on Confirm Import to access your contact list.
Your contact list is ready! You can always manually edit your contacts by clicking on Edit.
Automatically Import Contacts via FTP
Prerequisite: you must first create an FTP repository in your account settings.
- Click on Enable FTP Import
- Select the target FTP repository
- Specify the file name prefix (a default prefix is suggested, but you can modify it)
- Specify the sharing frequency
- Specify the file language. This impacts the column names and date format.
- If you want contacts to be automatically solicited after each import, make sure to enable the option "Automatically launch deployments each time a file is imported".
Example:
import_feedback and import_feedback_test — only import_feedback will be recognized. The solicitation rules of your deployment will be checked at each import for the imported contacts. For example, if your solicitation rules specify that a contact can only be solicited once per month, and one of the imported contacts has already been solicited this week, they will not receive another email or SMS.
Remember to .
To receive an alert in case of import errors, activate this option in your user settings.
Automatically Import Contacts via API
To manage your contacts through our API, many endpoints are available.
For daily or real-time sending flows, we recommend the endpoint Deployments - Insert or update contact and send deployment, which allows you to create or update the contact and also send them the email or SMS deployment.
