Manage account property values

Account properties make it easy to categorize the use of different platform features and, in some cases, enable deeper analysis. They allow roles to be assigned to users, recipients, campaigns, deployments, and segments. Properties are also essential for sending surveys via email through Skeepers.

Overview

A property is a peripheral data that can be associated with contacts, users, recipients, campaigns, deployments, or segments. It serves as an additional metadata, allowing multiple elements to be grouped in a transversal manner with specific values. A property can also be linked to an attribute to add an identification field to an element and be used as a trigger for actions or a filtering criterion in analyses.

Accessibility

  • The overall management of properties is only accessible to users with the "Account settings" right :

With the required right, properties can be managed via the "Settings" tab in the left sidebar, then "Properties".

  • The management of user/recipient properties is only accessible to administrators with the "Users management" right :

  • However, each user has the ability to manually add values associated with campaign, deployment, segment, or contact properties.

If you do not have the required rights, we invite you to contact the relevant internal teams, such as the administrator or the operations manager of your organization's Skeepers account.

Managing user and recipient properties

Using user and recipient properties

User and recipient properties can be used for several purposes :

  • Better identify platform users (role, solution usage, associated permissions, etc.)
  • Assign categories or profiles to users or recipients (regional manager, store manager A, etc.)
  • Trigger actions based on a specific user property (report sending, recurring dashboard sharing, etc.)
  • Filter dashboard data based on user or recipient properties (market, region, country, agency, etc.)

You can find details on how to use properties when sharing a dashboard in the following articles : sharing via URL and sharing via email.

Global management of user and recipient properties

If you have the required rights (mentioned earlier in the article), go to the "Settings" tab in the left sidebar, then navigate to "Properties". The "Users" tab allows you to manage the addition and modification of user properties within the account.

You can modify an existing property by clicking the "Edit" button. You can also duplicate it to adapt it or delete it if necessary.

To add new user properties, click the blue "Add new property" button.

The type of property defines its expected format, which must be strictly followed when adding values :

When creating a new property, we recommend adding a description to specify its purpose.

By default, only one property value is expected. If you want to allow multiple values (example : access to multiple dashboards, filters for multiple stores, etc.), check this field. This field is only available for user properties.

Finally, you can secure a property by enabling its encryption. However, for user properties, this option is generally not necessary, as the data is not necessarily sensitive.

Once a property is added, account administrators will be able to enter values directly in the dedicated field within user and recipient profiles.

During a bulk recipient import, the property can also be specified in the corresponding column of the CSV import template. If multiple values are included in a property, they must be separated in the cell using a pipe symbol "|".

If the attribute related to your user property is a linked attribute (learn more about linked attributes), you must fill it in with its value rather than its label :

Manage campaign properties

Using campaign properties

Campaign properties can serve multiple purposes :

  • Can be used as labels while allowing for analysis and comparison
  • Help better identify the objective of each survey and the person responsible for it
  • Enable assigning categories or identifiers to campaigns (data source, access details, responsible department, type of product or service surveyed, main deployment channel, deployment frequency, etc.)
  • Specify the primary language of the survey or its sending date
  • Allow filtering dashboard data based on campaign properties (survey type, objective, internal department, etc.)

Campaign properties can be used similarly to labels. By associating your campaign properties with attributes, you gain the ability to analyze them.

Global management of campaign properties

If you have the required rights (mentioned earlier in the article), go to the "Settings" tab in the left sidebar, then navigate to "Properties". The "Campaigns" tab allows you to manage the addition and modification of campaign properties within the account.

You can modify an existing property by clicking the "Edit" button. You can also duplicate it to adapt it or delete it if necessary.

To add new campaign properties, click the blue "Add new property" button.

The type of property defines its expected format, which must be strictly followed when adding values :

When creating a new property, we recommend adding a description to specify its purpose.

By default, only one property value is expected.

Finally, you can secure a property by enabling its encryption. However, for campaign properties, this option is generally not necessary, as the data is not necessarily sensitive.

Once a property is added, any account user with access to campaigns will be able to enter a value directly in the campaign settings under the "General" section, in the designated field.

Manage deployment properties

Using deployment properties

Deployment properties can serve multiple purposes :

  • Can be used as labels while offering the possibility to be analyzed for comparisons
  • Better identify the person responsible for deploying the survey
  • Assign categories or identifiers to deployments (data source, access details, responsible department, type of surveyed product or service, main deployment channel, deployment frequency, etc.)
  • Specify the survey's sending language for this deployment
  • Filter dashboard data based on deployment properties (survey type, deployment type, objective, internal department, etc.)

Deployment properties can be used similarly to labels. By associating deployment properties with attributes, you can analyze them.

Global management of deployment properties

If you have the required rights (mentioned earlier in the article), go to the "Settings" tab in the left sidebar, then navigate to "Properties". The "Deployments" tab allows you to manage the addition and modification of deployment properties in the account.

You can modify an existing property by clicking the "Edit" button. You can also duplicate it for adaptation or delete it if necessary.

To add new deployment properties, click the blue "Add new property" button.

The type of property corresponds to its expected format, which must be strictly followed when adding values :

When creating a new property, we recommend adding a description to detail its purpose.

By default, only one property value is expected.

Finally, you can secure a property by enabling its encryption. However, for deployment properties, this option is generally unnecessary, as the data is not necessarily sensitive.

Once a property is added, any user with access to deployments in the account can enter a value directly in the deployment settings, under the "General" section, in the designated field.

Manage segment properties

Using segment properties

Segment properties can serve multiple purposes :

  • Better identify the person responsible for the segment
  • Assign categories or identifiers to segments (data source, activation date, target, usage, responsible department, type of surveyed product or service, optimization for a specific deployment channel, etc.)

Global management of segment properties

If you have the required rights (mentioned earlier in the article), go to the "Settings" tab in the left sidebar, then navigate to "Properties". The "Segments" tab allows you to manage the addition and modification of segment properties in the account.

You can modify an existing property by clicking the "Edit" button. You can also duplicate it for adaptation or delete it if necessary.

To add new segment properties, click the blue "Add new property" button.

The type of property corresponds to its expected format, which must be strictly followed when adding values :

When creating a new property, we recommend adding a description to detail its purpose.

By default, only one property value is expected.

Finally, you can secure a property by enabling its encryption. However, for segment properties, this option is generally unnecessary, as the data is not necessarily sensitive.

Once a property is added, any user with tracking access in the account can enter a value directly in the segment, in the designated field.

Manage contact properties (contact fields)

Using contact properties

Contact properties (contact fields) have only one purpose within the platform : allowing attributes to be attached to feedback when sending via Email or SMS through Skeepers.

Contact properties are essential for adding additional information to your contacts. Feel free to explore our dedicated documentation : Create or import a broadcast list containing contacts.

Global management of contact properties

If you have the required rights (mentioned earlier in the article), go to the "Settings" tab in the left sidebar, then navigate to "Properties". The "Contacts" tab allows you to manage the addition and modification of account user properties.

You can edit an existing property by clicking the "Edit" button. You can also duplicate it for adaptation or delete it if necessary.

To add new contact properties (contact fields), click the blue "Add new property" button.

The property type corresponds to its expected format, which must be strictly followed when adding values :

When creating a new property, we recommend adding a description to specify its purpose or expected format.

By default, only one property value is expected.

Finally, you can secure a property by enabling its encryption. This option may be required if the values contain sensitive data. However, it is recommended to enable it only if the attributes of your contact fields are also encrypted.

Once a property has been added, any account user with access to contacts can enter a value directly within the contact field.

Please note that you can also create a new contact property when creating an attribute of type "contact field".

When performing a bulk contact import, via CSV file, FTP, or API, each new property added to your account will result in the addition of a new column in the CSV template. Predefined contact properties by Skeepers are located up to column H, while all subsequent columns correspond to the properties you have created.

Using properties for actions and analysis

Since properties are peripheral data that provide context, they cannot be used directly in analyses. However, you can easily link them to an attribute to use them in deployments or analysis.

Linking a contact property to a contact field attribute

Once you have created your contact property as explained in the previous section, you can create an attribute to associate feedbacks with the contextual information of each respondent/contact.

To link the attribute to the contact property and enable data transmission, navigate to the "Attribute type" section.

Next, choose the attribute type, which corresponds to the expected format (it must be identical to the one configured in your contact property).

In the first dropdown menu "Default value", select "Contact fields" and choose the contact property you previously created in the second dropdown menu.

Once your contact field attribute is created, you can populate its value when creating contacts (manually, via a CSV file, FTP, or API). This step is necessary to enrich contacts for email or SMS deployments through Skeepers.

Link a property to an attribute

Associating an attribute with a property allows you to identify a specific profile or deployment subject in your analysis and compare it with other elements globally.

Once you have created your campaign or deployment property, you can create a new attribute to associate this data with each collected feedback.

To link the attribute to the property and thus enable data analysis, go to the "Attribute type" section.

Then, choose the attribute type, which corresponds to the expected format (it must be identical to the one configured in your property).

To avoid case-sensitive issues and value duplicates, prefer the "Value list" type.

In the first dropdown list "Default value", choose "Custom fields" and select the property you created earlier from the second dropdown list.

The attribute is set up and will collect data if you have filled in the property field in your campaign or deployment.

You can trigger post-feedback actions on this attribute linked to a property (learn more about post-feedback actions).

Finally, to add this item to your analysis, simply insert it into the data set of your indicators or add a filter on this attribute in your dashboards :
