Redirect a respondent to TrustPilot to leave a review

Do you want to redirect your survey respondents to a dedicated review submission page on TrustPilot ?

Depending on your version of TrustPilot and the modules you have subscribed to, several different configurations are possible. In this article, we detail how to set up automatic redirection of respondents to TrustPilot, whether you have the "Free" version or the "Standard" paid version of the tool.

Overview

TrustPilot offers a paid "Connect" module that allows data to be transferred from a third-party tool (such as Skeepers) to TrustPilot. This option is necessary to fully leverage the feature, particularly by automating the mapping of data from your survey and/or CRM, so that respondents do not have to manually enter their information.

With either the free or paid version (without this module), it is still possible to automatically redirect a respondent to the TrustPilot review submission page. In this case, they will have to manually enter their information.

If you have subscribed to the optional module and wish to connect TrustPilot to Skeepers, we provide you with a TrustPilot Connected Application. To learn more about its setup, check out our dedicated article Connect TrustPilot to Skeepers.

Setup

Setting up a "Redirect to TrustPilot" action with data mapping

This section of the article applies only if you have subscribed to the optional "Connect" module from TrustPilot, which allows mapping data from a third-party tool to their platform.

Requirements

Before setting up the "Redirect to TrustPilot" action in your campaign, it is necessary to have activated the TrustPilot Connected Application on your Skeepers account, completed authentication, and set up your mapping in Skeepers.

Your campaign must contain the variables you have defined in the mapping (attributes, labels, etc...) so they are properly taken into account and transmitted to TrustPilot. The segment linked to your campaign must therefore contain all the attributes you wish to send to TrustPilot.

As the review submission involves displaying a new page, we recommend setting up this automation on a thank-you page at the end of the survey, once all answers have been validated. It is necessary to add a "Submit form and finish" button on this thank-you page to trigger the automation.

You can customize the thank-you message with rich content to inform your respondents that they can leave a review by pressing the button. Feel free to include legal notices in this message.

Setting up the "Redirect to TrustPilot" action

To set up the post-feedback action "Redirect to TrustPilot", go to the "Actions" tab of your campaign.

Name your action and complete the conditions for your post-feedback action.

Complete the "WHEN" condition with "On page submit" and select your thank-you page in the "IF" condition. You can also add other triggers.

Redirecting only satisfied respondents to a review submission page (a practice called "review gating" or "cherry picking") is illegal in the United States and strongly discouraged in Europe. This practice harms the authenticity and reliability of your online reviews, and can even lead to sanctions or disputes. We encourage you to adopt a transparent approach by allowing all your respondents, regardless of their satisfaction level, to share their experience. This ensures balanced and credible reviews, strengthening consumer trust in your brand.

For the "THEN" condition, choose a "Redirect to TrustPilot" action and select the appropriate mapping from those you have already configured in the TrustPilot connected application.

Everything is now set up so that when the final button on the survey is clicked, the customer will be redirected to the TrustPilot review page, without having to re-enter their information. Depending on the mapping you have configured, the customer's personal information will be pre-filled, and you can also include the respondent's rating and comment in the variables.

Setting up a redirection action to the TrustPilot review page

This section of the article applies if you have the "Free" or "Standard" version of TrustPilot without subscribing to the optional "Connect" module.

The "Redirect to TrustPilot" action, which allows redirection of a respondent with data mapping to TrustPilot, is not available in this configuration. However, you can still use a simple redirection to the review submission page. The only difference is that your respondent will have to manually enter their information in TrustPilot.

Requirements

As the review submission involves displaying a new page, we recommend setting up this automation on a thank-you page at the end of the survey, once all answers have been validated. It is necessary to add a "Submit form and finish" button on this thank-you page to trigger the automation.

You can customize the thank-you message with rich content to inform your respondents that they can leave a review by pressing the button. Feel free to include legal notices in this message.
