How to create or use an SMS template

To meet various internal and customer communication requirements, Skeepers allows you to easily configure your own SMS templates.

If you want to deploy a survey via SMS or automate alerts and notifications by SMS, this article is for you.

Accessibility

Account permissions related to SMS sending must be activated beforehand to access SMS templates.

With the appropriate permissions (which you can find in our dedicated article), go to the 'Settings' section in the left-hand menu of the platform. Then select 'SMS Templates' under the 'GENERAL' section.

On this page, you will find a list of all existing SMS templates in your organization's account.

If you do not have access to the 'Settings' section, please send a request to your local administrator to grant you the "Account Settings" user permission.

Managing SMS Templates

By navigating through your SMS template list, accessible from your 'Settings' section, you can create new templates as well as edit, duplicate, or delete existing ones.

You cannot delete an SMS template that is still active in a campaign or has already been sent.

  • By clicking the "Edit" button next to a specific template, you can access and modify it.

  • By clicking "Add a new template", you can start creating a new SMS template.

Configuring an SMS Template

After creating or opening an SMS template, begin configuring it in the 'Edit' tab.

Unlike email templates, SMS templates have limited customization options due to the format's constraints, which Skeepers cannot override. Therefore, formatting or images cannot be included in the SMS content.

However, you can still add text content and variables, which we detail in our dedicated article.

You can also define the SMS sender name based on your requirements.

We recommend selecting the original language of the SMS template now, so you can translate it later if needed. The translation configuration steps are detailed here.

The SMS body must not exceed 160 characters. Be cautious when adding variables, as their final value must stay within the character limit. If exceeded, the message will not be sent.

For a customer audience, and in compliance with GDPR, you must include "STOP SMS 36180".
